Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) applies to The Coffee Bean® Rewards Application for mobile devices (“App”) and The Coffee Bean® Rewards Program, owned and operated by International Coffee & Tea, LLC doing business as The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® (“Company”, “we” or “us”). We are committed to treating your information with respect and sensitivity. We post the Policy’s effective date at the top of the Policy. We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time; if we do, we will post the revised Policy with a revised effective date. We encourage you to check the “More” page in the App to see the current Policy.
Information You Provide Us
You may download the App without providing any information, but some of its features require registration and verification. You are given the option to provide us your location information. This will allow you to find the nearest The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® location and directions.
To access The Coffee Bean® Rewards Program, or to use the App to make a payment, you are required to register by providing your name, a valid e-mail address and selecting a password. You may also sign in with Facebook and we will collect the public profile information in your Facebook account. Providing a phone number is optional. When you register through the App, we may collect your name and email address, along with other information you may choose to submit during registration. We require your credit card number, credit card expiration date, and CVV if you are adding value to a gift card in the App ("Personally Identifiable Information" or "PII"). You also have the option of storing a credit or debit card number in the App to make payments easier. By providing your PII to us, you explicitly agree to our collection and use of such information as described in this Privacy Policy.
We do not disclose your PII to third parties for their use in marketing.
Protecting Children's Privacy
This App is not designed or intended to be attractive to use by children under the age of 13 ("Minors"). We do not knowingly collect PII from Minors. If you are under the age of 13, please do not submit any information to us.
Cookies and Automatically Collected Data
We may use cookies and similar technologies to personalize our App for you and to collect aggregate information about App usage by all of our users. A cookie is a text file that identifies your mobile device for record-keeping purposes and to enhance the quality of your use of the App and to recognize you when you return to the App. We may use cookies or similar technologies that collect a user’s IP address, mobile device identification, the type of device or operating system in use (e.g., iOS or Android), the type of browser being used, the number and frequency of uses of our App, and similar technical information that does not identify the user personally.
If you have enabled location sharing on your device we will automatically collect the location of your device. We use this information to provide information relevant to your location, such as the address of or directions to the nearest The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® location. You can always disable the location sharing feature on the App.
Use of Information
We may use your information according to the Policy and Terms and Conditions in effect at the time of use. We sometimes use aggregated data (without personal identifiers) for research and commercial purposes. This information includes what locations our users visit most frequently and what services they access most often. This information helps us improve the App so it is more useful and accessible to you.
We use the information we collect primarily to provide better service to our customers, to comply with our legal obligations, to operate and grow our business, to improve and customize the content you see, to provide the products, services or The Coffee Bean® Rewards Program membership benefits you request, and to contact you about special promotions and new products. We may use your PII internally, among other things, to offer our own, our affiliates’ or third-party products and services that we think you may find of interest.
We may use your email address to contact you to respond to your inquiries, such as requests for resetting passwords, or to provide information on products or services to you. You can elect not to receive emails from us either by "unsubscribing" to an email you receive, changing your notification settings in the App, or by contacting us as indicated below.
Disclosing Information to Third Parties
We reveal PII about you to unaffiliated third parties if: (1) you request or authorize it; (2) the information is provided to help complete a transaction for you; (3) the information is provided to comply with the law, applicable regulations, governmental requests, court orders or subpoenas, to enforce our Terms and Conditions or other agreements, or to protect our rights, property or safety or the rights, property or safety of our users or others (e.g., to a consumer reporting agency for fraud protection etc.); (4) the disclosure is done as part of a purchase, transfer or sale of services or assets; (5) the information is provided to our agents, outside vendors or service providers to perform functions on our behalf; or (6) to others as described in this Policy. We may also disclose aggregated (but not personally identifiable) information to third parties for promotional or other purposes.
Access, Opt Out, and Security
To review your PII, make any changes or corrections, or change your communication preferences, visit the “Account Settings” section of the “More” page of the App. We will try to complete your request as promptly as possible. Any changes will affect only future uses of your PII. If you do not wish to receive offers or other notices from us in the future, you can also "opt out" by following the directions in any email you receive from us, or, by changing your communication preferences in the App.
We take steps to protect your information and have measures in place in our physical facilities and in our computer systems, databases and communications networks that are designed reasonably to protect information contained within our systems from loss, misuse or alteration. We are not responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any information that you store in the App. You have a role in the security of your information and you are responsible to make sure that your log in information is kept from other people. If your phone is lost or stolen you can change your password by logging into our website. Any transactions using your log in information will be deemed to be authorized by you unless you notify us otherwise.
